These awards are not associated with the Monroe Police Department and are awarded by MPOG only. Through the years MPOG members have found a real need to recognize the positive accomplishments of it’s members. This not only increases the officers morale but instills a sense of duty, pride and honor. These awards ensure that our members heroism, courage and outstanding duty performance will be recognized.
The MPOG Officer of the Year Award is a direct reflection of the officers’ character, work ethic and overall performance selected by a vote of the officers’ peers. This is a true honorary award for an MPOG member.
The MPOG Merit Award: A yearly award intended for officers who conduct an outstanding job during the performance of their duties such as a major criminal arrest, outstanding service rendered or going above and beyond the normal standards of police work. This award is nominated by any member and determined on its merit by the MPOG Executive Board.
The MPOG Courage Award: Recognizes officers who encounter an overtly dangerous or extremely high-risk situation in the line of duty. This award is nominated by its members and determined on its merit by the MPOG Executive Board.
The MPOG Honor Award: Intended for long-term members who leave MPOG in good standing with honorable services as well as recognize members who serve the community through volunteer or other non-duty related service. MPOG may give non-members an Honor Award in recognition for charitable acts or in thanks for their service or assistance to MPOG. Non members and members are eligible for nomination. This award is determined on its merit by all voting members of MPOG.
